Wing-Kun Tam

Hong Kong, China
INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT

This year, I am calling on all Lions to embrace a sense of belief of what it truly means to be a Lion – a belief that each individual Lion makes a difference and that, together, we can change the world even more than we have yet imagined.

I have set my vision – driven by my beliefs – on three special goals this year:
Strengthening and retaining our membership by taking care of fellow members as if they were family;
Expanding our service to new heights, propelled by a special campaign to plant one million trees;
And nurturing our future by involving more young people and Leos in all that we do.
Together we will flow onward – a benevolent flood of service to the world

FRANCINE MURPHY-BRILLON
Pawtucket, RI
DISTRICT GOVERNOR

“Hands On, Hearts Open”
The greatest need for our hands-on service is now. We need to be on the front lines of a park clean up, a food or clothing drive, a tree planting (as part of our million tree mission) or a sight screening. We must: recruit new members by sharing the joy and excitement of helping others; restore energy and enthusiasm to ailing clubs by engaging in active service; foster positive public relations from the ground up by being seen in action. Let’s be a visible, demonstrable force of good in our local areas, our district and our world. The more hands-on we are, the more our hearts (and those who see our efforts) will open to opportunity and service.
We are small in area but big on important things: service, dedication and a willingness to show that we know what Lionism means. Through technology we belong to a global village; through Lions Clubs we belong to a global family. President Tam reminds us that it’s “My Club, My Family”. Our District can be our extended family. Let's meet, encourage, befriend and share resources with Lions from Woonsocket to Westerly. “I Believe” we make a difference because “WE SERVE” both our communities and each other.
